Visited the Bahamas for the first time in January . The Grand Bahamas is beautiful , almost dream like. I plan to go back to Nassau next year and I must find that Indigo Cafe !

I was in the touristy area when I went, so a majority of the locals were working/selling stuff to us , rather than seeing them relax and enjoying their own beautiful environment. Also, I learned that a lot of the people working in tourism, come to the Bahamas for work from other islands such as Jamaica.

” Most people in the country look like me …I can’t begin to explain how I felt to moving around in a country in which nearly everybody I met looked like they could be my kin. ”
That is how I felt on my first visit to the Motherland (South Africa), it was a wonderful feeling !

I absolutely loved the Bahamas and can’t wait to get married there next year! I have the same picture you do with the junkanoo hats! Did you get to make noise makers and blow whistles too? That was so much fun!!!

Even though, I’ve been to the Caribbean several times I definitely relate to the feeling of seeing others that look at me. NOt only is it comforting, but it’s inspiring to see so many successful people that seem to be a reflection of you. It’s always great venturing out into the town and mingling with the locals on vacation. I was never too into the “touristy attractions”
